The North’s Premier Book Sales

During the Corona-19 virus pandemic it has not been possible to hold our popular Book Sales.

As soon as it is safe to do, we look forward to seeing you in Durham.

You can still support us by using the Amazon link (above) and buying online.

Welcome

We are an independent UK charity that assists the social and economic development of Palestine by providing scholarships for Palestinian graduates to study for Masters degrees at Durham University. Click on the menu link About us for more information.

Our scholarships

If you are a Palestinian graduate interested in our scholarships, please click on the menu link Scholarships.

We are always delighted to welcome new members to this democratically-run charity. Please click on the menu link About Us for details.

Donations and support

If you would like to support our work, the menu link to Donations and Support enables you to

• support us in ways that cost you nothing.

Each scholarship costs us £13,000, so any any support you can give will be very gratefully received.

We have no corporate sponsors. We rely entirely on individual donations and our fundraising events.

We have no paid workers so every penny of your donation goes directly to our Palestinian scholarships.

The North’s Premier Book Sales!

Dear members and supporters,

At late notice, we have secured the Pemberton Rooms on Palace Green for a book sale on Saturday 01 October and Sunday 02 October. This will bel the final DPET Book Sale.

So, again, we are asking if you would be able and willing to help DPET with this sale. Please volunteer now for 10am-12noon or 12noon-2pm or 2pm-4pm on Saturday or Sunday.

We also need teams
to set up the sale on Friday 30 September from 5pm to 6pm, and
to pack up and restore the classroom layout from 4pm to 5pm on Sunday 02 October.
Most of this is heavy work – not good if you have back or similar medical problems.

We will operate the same covid-security measures we used at our August book sale, including providing FFP3 medical grade masks for volunteers (these protect you as well as others)

Please reply to this email address.

Best wishes,
Vin

DPET has held a number of second-hand book sales in past years in Durham. They have benefitted from donations of books from the whole University community as well as supporters further afield and visitors to Durham. They have raised considerable sums of money for DPET. Due to the Corona-19 virus pandemic we have been unable to hold the Book Sales in the past couple of years, but we hope to resume as soon as it is possible and safe.

Book Sales usually offer 15,000 high quality used and new books on every academic subject plus major sections for fiction, travel and adventure, art, music, hobbies, children’s books and many other topics. Attractive prices with many at only 50p.

The usual dates of our Sales are in April (around Easter), August Late Bank Holiday, end of Freshers week in early October.
